Vision

To be a Gospel-centered community that lives out the love of Christ, actively reaching beyond our walls to welcome all people into a life-changing and transformative relationship with Jesus. We seek to grow together in faith, serve with compassion, and reflect God’s grace in our church, our community, and the world.​

Mission

We seek to faithfully embody the Great Commission by remaining rooted in Biblical truth and by creating a space where individuals encounter the healing and restorative power of Christ.

Statement of Faith

Our core beliefs are rooted in Scripture. These we consider to be the primary, non-negotiable, Biblical doctrines we believe. We expect all members to be able to affirm this statement with a clear conscience.

Leadership team

First and foremost, we are recipients of God’s grace and have the privilege of being part of the Eldership team that leads Cornerstone Church. As committed followers of Jesus, we are deeply passionate about serving our local community and witnessing the transformative power of the gospel in people’s lives.

We have been living in St Helena Bay with our three sons since September 2020. Our gospel-centered ministry, together with my wife’s hospitality and deep passion for people, is not just something we believe in, but something we live out daily.

After retiring from the Air Force in 2025, we followed God’s calling to serve in His kingdom and joined the team of Elders who lead Cornerstone Church. Together we desire to contribute to this local congregation and be part of what God is doing in St Helena Bay.

Nicky lives out her calling by teaching in our kids’ ministry, “Kids@Praise,” and serving in the Women’s Ministry. I live out my passion by making a joyful noise behind the drums, leading a LifeGroup, and heading up our Men’s Ministry.

We love Jesus and enjoy spending time outdoors motorcycling, kayaking, and drinking good coffee with our two beautiful daughters and three granddaughters.

We deeply value family life and spending time outdoors with our three children and two grandchildren. Since 2010, we have been actively involved in church leadership and enjoy investing in relationships, opening our home, and walking alongside others in both everyday life and in their faith journeys.

As a marketplace elder with a focus on teaching and preaching, I carry a deep heart for shepherding and strengthening our local church. Henriette has a deep passion for encouraging others in their walk with the Lord through discipleship and community life. Together, we are committed to building a Christ-centred church marked by grace, truth, and genuine community, with a deep desire to honour and exalt the Lord in all we do.

Why we are here

Cornerstone Church is a non-denominational church which was planted out of Beacon Church in Langebaan through the support and guidance of our partnership with the ADVANCE global church planting movement.

We aim to be a Gospel-centered Community Church which reaches out to others coming to faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe God has given our name: Cornerstone, being prophetic in this region,  strategically placed here to be a harbour where people can come to rest and experience the healing and restorative power of Jesus Christ. We strive to be a biblically authentic, Jesus centered community who faithfully upholds the Great Commission given to the church by Jesus Christ. (Matt 28:18-20)
